Hope you are all looking forward to participating in some MARTA activities. We had lots of fun at our fall activities. The activity committee has planned lots to do this spring. Remember to let us know if you can’t come after enrolling. Make sure you check the payments for each item – some are paid at the venue and others must be paid in advance.
I would like to highlight the DOD Emergency Preparedness Seminar on May 29th. The National Guard will be presenting important information to New Yorkers and we are pleased to have them addressing our membership.
In our 25th year of scholarships, nearly 300 members donated to the Scholarship fund. Our 2019 scholarship reveal will occur on Wednesday, May 15th at the Scholarship breakfast and we really hope you will join us in welcoming these wonderful students. They will be excited as they begin their journey and seeing us cheering them on is a great start!
The Holiday Party was fun with lots of games, prizes and good company. Once again, attendees’ contributions benefitted Middletown Cares, the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Pets Alive, and the veterans at Castle Point. The raffles added over $250 to our scholarship and our crafters created over 100 infant hats for the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program. Checkout the pictures here. Overall, I think MARTA members showed very big hearts this holiday season. We want to welcome three new volunteers to the Scholarship committee – Mary Kunzmann, Anne Pavek and Cynthia Weintraub. We still could use more help with Activities, Luncheons and Publicity. These jobs do not require a lot of time. Please contact us if you are able to help.
